PensonStringWerks Student Policies:

(post date: 7-12-2009, update 12-28-2009)

  • Payment: All money for tuition is non-refundable. Consider carefully before committing to 4 or 12 lessons. Cash or check, sorry no cards taken at this point.
  • Cancellations/missed lesson times: If I miss a lesson, you get a free lesson. (Hey, I make mistakes, too!). For students, no penalty for 24 hour notification. 10 dollar "restocking" fee for missed lesson within 24 hours. Reason for this is that sometimes I rearrange an entire day to be here for that one lesson, and if it's a no-show, well, you get the idea.
  • Appointment times: It's just me here, and I do everything by appointment, so please be aware that if you show up 15 minutes late, you'll only get a 45 minute lesson. Also, conversely, if you show up 15 minutes early, I won't be able to take you. The times between my lessons are when I get everything else in my life done, so it's valuable to me.
  • Payment, Cont'd: I used to be able to take cards, but as of now, it's just cash or check.
  • Lessons are 50 minutes long: Makes for a little prep time, change of shifts, etc.
  • Recurrences/Time Slots: Missing two lessons in four recurrences will forfeit your times slot. For example, if you have a regular Thursday lesson at 4 pm each week, and miss two in one month, you are subject to losing that slot. Most of my students want to come at the same times - typically weekdays from 4 to 7 - so these slots are hard to come by. I have a short list of people waiting for time slots.
  • All lessons will begin at appointed times. Please turn off your cell phone (and I will turn mine off). Lessons are 50 minutes long.
  • Vacation/Holidays: My schedule with my kids pretty much follows the Arlington school district schedule. I get two weeks in the summer with them, 1 week at Spring Break in alternate years, and half of the Christmas break each year. These periods will be treated just like holidays within the college semester model with lessons scheduled around them.
